Joe Pope, M.S., L.P.C., L.C.A.S.
Mr. Pope earned two Master's Degrees in 2007 from East Carolina University, one in Substance Abuse & Clinical Counseling and another in Rehabilitation Studies.
Mr. Pope is credentialed in North Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. He is a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), and ACT Carolinas, the Carolina affiliate of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of ACBS.
Mr. Pope joined Eastover Psychological & Psychiatric Group in 2013. He works with adults seeking individual counseling. He has experience working with a variety of mental health and other life issues, including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Substance Use Disorders and concerns pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity.
Mr. Pope’s primary therapeutic model is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which combines mindfulness and other tools to help the individual overcome obstacles and create a satisfying life based on one’s own values. Mr. Pope also uses Motivational Interviewing to help individuals navigate through the stages of change and more traditional forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
